FIRST Robotics — From FLL to FTC

My robotics journey spans two FIRST programs: FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). It has taken me from research and LEGO-based prototyping to programming, calibrating, and testing a competition robot on real hardware.

FIRST LEGO League — MEGADETH

For the 2026 FLL season, our team developed a research project for the Astana Regional Stage. Competing alongside 30 teams, we received the Research & Impact Award.

FIRST Tech Challenge — Team 34111

In FTC, I work with a larger and more technically demanding robot platform. My work includes Java programming with the FTC SDK, mecanum-drive control, motion calibration, and integrating goBILDA Pinpoint odometry for more reliable localization and autonomous movement.

At Bilim Shyny 2026 in Astana, our team received the Control Award — 2nd Place, recognizing the control systems and software behind the robot.

What I am learning

Moving from FLL to FTC has taught me how software behaves outside a controlled environment: sensors drift, mechanisms introduce error, and every autonomous routine must be validated on the physical robot. Robotics has become the place where I connect programming, experimentation, and engineering into one working system.
